Rhone Guigal 1990 Cote Rotie La Landonne 2 Bottle 75cl £575
  • The 1990 La Landonne is a perfect wine! Fortunately, more than 800 cases were produced. It possesses an opaque black color, and a huge, truffle, licorice, cassis, and peppery-scented nose. While it is one of the most concentrated wines I have ever poured across my palate, it is perfectly balanced, with adequate underlying acidity, huge extraction of ripe fruit and tannin, and a phenomenal 70-second or longer finish. This is the essence of Syrah! Give this monumental wine 7-10 years of cellaring; it will last for 40-45 + years.

Rhone Guigal 1999 Cote Rotie La Turque 1 Bottle 75cl £415
  • The 1999 Cote Rotie La Turque reveals notes of toasty vanilla and espresso in addition to Asian spices, mocha, pepper, blackberries, creosote, and roasted meats. The exotic perfume is followed by a wine with phenomenal intensity, sweet, well-integrated tannin, huge body, and loads of concentrated fruit. It is a tour de force in winemaking. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2025.

What is so remarkable about this cuvee is its tremendous layers of flavor, awesome texture, and perfect balance. This is an astonishing offering from one of the world’s greatest winemakers.

Rhone Guigal 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne 1 Case 6 75cl £1,995
  • As with the other two single-parcel Cote Roties, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is pure perfection in a glass. An incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort, it has an insane amount of structure to go with an equal amount of concentrated fruit. Cassis, smoked bacon, coffee bean, cracked pepper and liquid rock-like qualities are all present here, and it hits the palate with a chiseled, focused textured, building tannin and terrific length. It’s the most backward of the 2010s and will require a decade of cellaring, but will keep for about as long as you’d like to hold onto bottles.

Rhone Guigal 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline 1 Case 12 75cl £3,580
  • JEB DUNNUCK: 100

As to three single parcel releases, I reviewed the 2010 Cote Rotie La Mouline earlier this year, but was more than happy to taste it again (lucky me) for this report. Incorporating a full 11% of Viognier and coming from the steep, terraced vines in the Cote Blonde lieu-dit, it sports a heavenly bouquet of spring flowers, incense, violets, cured meats and sweet cassis. Full-bodied, voluptuous and as seamless as they come, Syrah just doesn’t get any more alluring, sexy or impressive. Give it 5-6 years and drink bottles over the following 2 decades or more.||The father/son team of Marcel and Philippe Guigal continue to keep their estate at the top of the hierarchy in the Rhône Valley. All the way from their inexpensive Côtes du Rhône to their top-end Côte Rôties and Hermtiage, the attention to detail and focus on quality is unmatched. Readers should also check out the recent Rhone Retrospective article I wrote that covered the Saint Joseph Vignes des Hospices, Côte Rôtie Brune et Blonde, Côte Rôtie Chateau d'Ampuis and Côte Rôtie La Mouline cuvees going back for over a decade. I said it there, and I'll say it again here, this estate is producing some of the most incredible and singular wines in the world. eRobertParker.com.December, 2014

Rhone Guigal 2010 Cote Rotie La Turque 1 Case 12 75cl £3,900
  • On this showing, the 2010 La Turque was incredible, in a lineup of incredible wines. Offering off-the-chart notes of cassis, blackberry, aged beef, chocolate, crushed rock and exotic flowers, it flows onto the palate with a massive, full-bodied feel that carries ultra-fine tannin, awesome depth and a blockbuster finish. Syrah, or wine for that matter, doesn’t get any better. Give this monumental Cote Rotie 5-6 years and enjoy it over the following 2-3 decades.

Rhone Guigal 2011 Cote Rotie La Mouline - 1 Case 6 75cl £1,050
  • JEB DUNNUCK: 96-99

Scheduled to be bottled early in 2015, the 2011 Cote Rotie La Mouline is more perfumed, exuberant and approachable than the 2010. It exhibits a crazy bouquet of spice-box, vanilla bean, spring flowers and sweet kirsch, cassis and black raspberry. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with sweet tannin, it will be hard to resist in its youth and have 2+ decades of prime drinking.||The father/son team of Marcel and Philippe Guigal continue to keep their estate at the top of the hierarchy in the Rhône Valley. Rhone Guigal 2019 Condrieu La Doriane 4 Case 6 75cl £310
  • Philippe Guigal says the 2019 whites are ‘sensational’ as a whole from a powerful & rich vintage similar to 2015.

“Produced from the top 5 terroirs of this famed appellation, La Doriane is an extremely intense wine with a complex range of aromas. On the palate, it is round and fleshy with a lovely freshness which brings harmony.” Guigal

Rhone Pegau 2010 CNDP Cuvee da Capo 2 Bottle 150cl £750
  • Comprised of roughly 85% Grenache and the rest Syrah and other permitted varieties, aged all in foudre, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo is sheer perfection in a glass. Wine doesn’t get any better. Incredibly rich and concentrated, yet ethereal and even graceful, it boasts off-the-hook aromas of blackberry, licorice, spice-box, smoked meats and underbrush that continue to change and develop in the glass. Massive and decadent on the palate, yet again, with no weight and a seamless texture, this brilliant effort needs a handful of years in the cellar and will live to see its 30th birthday in fine form. Drink 2016-2040.
