  • 2000 Cuvée Dom Pérignon Rosé, Moët et Chandon, (David Lynch Limited Edition)

“The 2000 Dom Perignon Rose is a flashy, ripe Champagne that screams Pinot to a degree I have never encountered in another vintage of this wine. A dark, intense color leads to a Chambolle-like nose followed by endless red berries, flowers and spices, all backed up with plenty of muscle, richness and density. The wine continues to blossom on the palate, with utterly beguiling detail, clarity and polish, all qualities that resonate on the rich, expansive finish. The 2000 Dom Perignon Rose is 45% Chardonnay and 55% Pinot Noir, of which 25% is still Pinot. Geoffroy says his goal was to make a statement with the 2000 Dom Perignon Rose; he has done that and so much more. In fact, the 2000 seems to signal a stylistic shift towards a more important, serious style of rose. This superb wine is not to be missed, but readers should note this is no easygoing rose, rather it is a Champagne that demands serious attention. The 2000 will test the limits of what readers expect from a Dom Perignon Rose, but the wine is simply marvelous. I loved it.” 96 points, Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate.

  • The 2006 vintage has been one of the most successful in Champagne’s modern era, is superb now but also has decades of aging ahead. It is a perfect follow-up to the outstanding 2005 and despite a less than favourable FX rate we have held pricing.

With a total production down and just 3,300 bottles produced, quantities are limited

  • The NV Brut Grand Rose comes across as very Gosset in its bright, piercing minerality. This is one of the driest Roses in the market, and truth to be told, it takes a special palate to truly appreciate this wine. Frankly, a touch more sweetness might not be a bad thing. This is Lot # L0418110. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015.

The 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Belle Epoque is a striking Champagne endowed with considerable power and richness in its exuberant fruit. The wine blossoms on the plate with tons of richness and a broad, expansive voice to the fruit that is quite beautiful. A long, creamy finish layered with tropical fruit rounds things out nicely. This is easily one of the most memorable Champagnes I have tasted from Perrier-Jouet in some time. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2022.

  • (43% chardonnay, 42% pinot noir, 15% pinot meunier). A discreet, even restrained nose is comprised by notes of petrol, yeast, Meyer lemon, apple and a lovely floral hint. The rounded, delicious and caressing flavors are shaped by a relatively soft (though not flabby) mousse before culminating in a clean, vibrant and moderately dry finale. I like the delivery though this could use just a bit more complexity which could develop if this was given a few more years of cellar time. 91/2020+

  • The 2004 Brut Rose Extra Cuvee de Reserve is quite fruity and vinous at first but then the minerality kicks in, giving the wine its energy and sense of focus. Crushed flowers, spices and mint unfold in the glass, adding complexity and nuance. Overall, this is a fairly delicate, feminine style of Rose that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or alongside a meal. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

  • (60% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay, SRP $114, 8 g/L). A fresh, bright and overtly citrusy nose reflects plenty of yeast and floral characters. There is really lovely vibrancy to the refined and ultra-pure flavors where the supporting effervescence is equally fine. The lingering and well-balanced finish is drier than the reported dosage level would suggest and overall, this is lovely and still quite young. 92/2020+

  • Pol Roger's 2002 Brut Extra Cuvee de Reserve is rich, creamy and seductive. An expressive, layered wine, the 2002 impresses for its overall harmony and balance. Light floral honey, mint, tangerine, cinnamon and dried pears are all woven together in this gracious, impeccable Champagne. This is a fairly reserve style for the year, but it works.

  • The 2004 Brut Rose Comtes de Champagne is a majestic wine that gradually opens up in the glass to reveal subtle layers of expressive, fragrant fruit. The wine picks up body on the mid-palate where the substance of the fruit emerges with greater weight. The mousse and the wine-s overall balance are impeccable. Although the 2004 Brut Rose Comtes de Champagne is delicious now, readers will probably want to give this at least a few years in the cellar. The wine should be magnificent in a few years- time. The 2004 Brut Rose Comtes de Champagne is 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot Noir (including 12% still Pinot), all from Grand Cru villages. Disgorged: end of April, 2008, (not indicated on label). • Philipponnat's 2007 Brut Clos de Goisses is soft, delicate and polished. One of the most understated, young Goisses I can remember tasting, the 2007 is a rare vintage that will drink well with pretty much no cellaring, which, as Goisses fans know, is highly unusual. Expressive in its aromatics and equally welcoming on the palate, the 2007 speaks to grace above all else. In 2007, bright Chardonnay-inflected notes are most apparent today, while the Pinot Noir is felt mostly in the wine's weight and overall texture. Even so, 2007 is a vintage that favors finesse over power. Dosage is 4.5 grams/liter. Disgorged: June 2016.

Krug’s 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs Clos du Mesnil represents the most recent incarnation of a nowadays insanely expensive bottling from a 4.5-acre enclave that they have made legendary with dedicated bottlings beginning with 1979, and which – unlike this house’s “regular” Vintage Brut – is “declared” nearly every year. A striking aromatic evocation of sea breeze, with oyster and mussel shells corresponds with surprising closeness to the initial aromatic impression made by Krug’s “regular” 2000 vintage bottling. But here, gingerbread and candied lemon rind, vanilla and heliotrope emerge from behind the maritime veil, anticipating the ripeness accompanied by transparency to mineral nuances that is revealed on an infectiously juicy and texturally ultra-refined palate. The interaction of maritime mineral, lemony citric, floral and spice elements carries with subtlety and impressive persistence. This is frankly a bit youthfully austere, and I imagine that it will take another year or two for it to begin to tip its full hand; but there is little doubt that nature dealt it a lucky set of cards. It should merit following for at least 12-15 years.

  • Like Fred and Ginger, this dances gracefully on the palate, with rich and expressive flavors of peach tart, raspberry sorbet, candied ginger and orange peel, and sleek acidity that leaves a mouthwatering impression on the satiny finish. Drink now through 2031.

(the varietals are a “proprietary secret” with fruit from old vines in grand cru vineyards). A whiff of petrol can be found on the ripe aromas of baked apple, brioche and soft floral scents. The exceptionally rich yet powerful flavors possess an almost creamy mid-palate mouth feel despite the presence of a firm supporting effervescence that also shapes the sappy and wonderfully complex finale. This is a bold, indeed even robust vintage for this famous cuvée and while it could certainly be enjoyed now, I would suggest holding it for another 5ish years as
my sense is that even more complexity is almost certain to develop. 93/2021+

  • The 1999 Clos des Goisses flows from the glass with the essence of minerals, chalk, smoke, ash, white peaches, pears, flowers and sweet oak. This is a muscular, powerful wine that needs serious bottle age to come around, yet it possesses striking clarity and detail in its aromatics and flavors. Clos des Goisses is one of the most rewarding wines to drink when mature, and I have no doubt this will be another splendid version. This refined, sumptuous wine is not to be missed. Clos des Goisses is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and 30% of the wine was fermented in oak. This bottle was disgorged in March 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024.

  • Bollinger's 2004 Brut La Grand Année is a beautiful wine with a lot of vintage character, but the style is a bit less oxidative than Bollinger fans are likely to expect. Pears, hazelnuts, spices and crushed rocks all flow through to the tense, vibrant finish. It will be interesting to see if the 2004 puts on weight in the bottle, as so many wines from this vintage have. Today, it is bright, linear and quite pretty. Green apples, pears and flowers all add lift on the close.

    Score: 95 Antonio Galloni, vinousmedia.com, May 2013

Firm, with well-cut acidity and a fine texture, this is aromatic, delivering a skein of ground spice and graphite notes that mesh seamlessly with the flavors of black currant, black cherry, toasted almond, financier, honey and smoky mineral. Offers a long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2024. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Score: 94 Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, July 2013

Hint of oak on the nose. Very winning and interesting. Extremely savoury. But with some flirtatious lift on the finish. Very persistent.

Score: 18.5 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, June 2013

(disgorged January, 2013): Light, bright gold. Powerful orchard and pit fruit aromas are complemented by smoky lees, iodine, chamomile and buttered toast. At once fleshy and energetic, offering deeply pitched poached pear, peach pit and brioche flavors and a suave floral element. Finishes smoky and very long, with mounting spiciness and lingering floral and vanilla notes.

AG “The 2005 Dom Pérignon opens with the classic Dom Pérignon bouquet. Warm toasty notes meld into expressive fruit in a supple, silky Champagne endowed with stunning depth, nuance and complexity. Sweet floral notes add lift as the wine opens up in the glass. Overall, the 2005 is a relatively delicate, gracious DP, but what it lacks in depth it more than makes up with persistence and its open, totally inviting personality. Today it's hard to see the 2005 making old bones, but it is a gorgeous wine to drink while the 2004 ages. In 2005, the release is scheduled to last about six months, which means production is down around 50% over normal levels. All I can say is the 2005 is fabulous, especially in a vintage that required considerable sorting to eliminate rampant rot in the Pinots”. 95 pts AG
